About This Tour
Mongolian Lunar New Year Tsagaan Sar is one of the two famous Mongolian national holidays, celebrated throughout the country for three days, plus the Lunar New Year Eve. On those days, families prefer to have plenty of food, keep their homes and home surroundings utmost clean, wear their nicest clothes, and be in a heartwarming atmosphere. People start preparing for the holiday many days in advance. Families make hundreds of buuz (dumplings with meat) and traditional cookies, sew new traditional clothes Deel, clean the ger dwelling, choose their nicest-looking riding horses, and train horses for the winter race. On this tour, you will celebrate the winter holiday with a nomad family living in the semi-desert and mountain steppes area.

Tour Plan
Day 1. Meet with your guide and driver. Drive to countryside Elsentasarkhai sand dune area which is represents high mountains, mountain steppes and the Gobi desert in a single area. At Elsentasarkahi, we will experience the real nomadic lifestyle and celebrate the national holiday Tsagaan Sar (Lunar New Year) with nomads.
Today will be an interesting day to see how nomads are preparing for their holiday including how to make traditional dishes. Before the sunsets, the hosts put a table full of traditional cookies and whole sheep rump, ceremonially. Next, the celebration of last day or no moon day of the passing year and the New Year Eve takes place. Have an overnight in a warm fire heating ger of the nomad family. Celebrate the first day of Mongolian Lunar New Year Today, early in the morning people climb the nearest hill or a mountain to see the first sun of the upcoming year. For most Mongolians, the first day of New Year starts with stepping their right direction to make the coming year to be more wealthy, in good health and full of success. Hostesses make traditional milk tea and offer best of it first to the earth, then to their shrine, next to the oldest person in the family or host of the household and then serve each member of the family including guests.
It is a day Mongolians wear their nicest traditional dresses and visit parents, relatives, and friends traveling as long as they can go. People greet each other by age category (younger people come to elders) at the traditional way of greeting. The celebration goes on families visiting and greeting each other. You will experience the holiday just like the family members.

Today we will drive to Khustai National Park is renowned in the world by its successful reintroduction of the wild horses (Przewalski horse) to their homeland in the wild.
